November 17, 2008

WOW..what a fun day!

Talk about creativity overload!
This morning I was up bright and early (OK so I was up early..maybe not so bright!! LOL)
headed off to pick up Sue and we went to our crop. I got down to business and started putting the School Days kit together. Guess how many pages I assembled (no pictures, just prepped for the mum to complete the photos and jouranling etc)..go on GUESS!!! 48!!! Yes you read that right! Ok..it was a kit so it only required assembly but I am thrilled that it is done...now I just have to find a binder/album big enough and strong enough to hold them all plus the keepers for each years art works etc. LOL. One Christmas pressie down!

Then we headed back to my place to pick up some things and headed over to Sheila's for her first workshop. I was there to assist her..well...let me tell you...that girl needed no help from me...so after a while I sat back and enjoyed the experience of going to a workshop myself. You know I never went to an SU workshop that i wasn't giving..I just realized that. LOL

Just a few friends were able to make it but they sure had fun and got down and busy very quickly.
Sheila is an amazing stamper. Here are some pics of the workshop and the two cards she had prepped.

First Workshop 007 and me thrilled at my first workshop! Note to self..put on some lipstick for heaven's sake! LOL
First Workshop 009
Think I liked this lovely card? I'll upload a better picture tomorrow. It's beautiful!!
Now for your viewing pleasure..I took some quick pics of some of Sheila's cards that she has created recently.
Some (most) are her own and some are inspired from SCS..the owl one is a complete CASE of  a Michele Zindorf card...Sheila loves this style and as you can see..she does it justice. (Not all are SU cards)

Another challenge...and an ISO

I headed over to SCS again for the Inspiration Challenge. It took me to a site with Felt products called The Felted Garden and I loved this scarf .
I realized that I seem to try to replicate the designs when I see one I like rather than take a hint of it and make my own thing happen. Oh well..I like the challenge of replications...I did add the solid centers to three of the circles though! LOL

ISO PART....  I am off to a crop tomorrow with some of my friends. I am planning on assembling a School Days album for my friend for Christmas for her eldest girl. I really wish I had bought two of them now...what can I do for #2 who happens to be my God Daughter also?? YIKES.

It was called "School Album Kit" by Lisa Higgins from Lisa Bearnson. Anyone got an extra floating around?

Anyway...thanks for dropping in again...see you tomorrow...I'll post something late in the evening.

Another Challenge

One more challenge for you..this was the Limited Supply Challenge from last week. We had to use a rectangle; a circle and only a ribbon for embellishments.
IMG_1777
Here are some details...
IMG_1778
I grew up in Ireland and we have the loveliest little Robins there..not like the big ones here. They are so friendly and will come and visit if you regularly feed them..my mum had one we called Perky who flew into the house every day to be fed. Very sweet birds. This is my version of Perky! LOL Kerby the Jackdaw was a whole other story!!!
IMG_1779 Here is a close up of the scalloped layered circle. I stamped the leaves on this card in Kiwi Kiss and then ran an Old Olive marker along one side of each leaf for  depth.

I have just hit the jet lag wall and so will set this to post tomorrow and be off to my bed.
Thanks for stopping by!

Watercolour Paper

I love to watercolour. I find it so relaxing. If you really want to play with the layers of colour then you should use Watercolour Paper as it allows you to add lots of water and go back and add darker inks and/or layers if you wish. I am a little tired this evening after coming in from Sydney this morning so needed a creative kick to get me going and so I checked out the SCS Ways to Use it challenge and it was to use Water Colour paper in your creations. So..I went looking for a stamp with a large open space that would be condusive to shading and picked Organic Outlines which I received FREE at Convention this Summer. I have not used it much but I love the images. So here you go..my watercolouring attempt in my jet lagged state LOL.

IMG_1774
I used Black Stazon ink as this does not 'run' when water is applied. I was happy with the image and the colouring and then stamped the words on the same paper and it did not "take" as the paper was still wet. So I tried using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to re-stamp it over top..it was still too wet and I got it slightly off so had to come up with something to cover it. I tried a few different colours of paper to go in the HPH frame...as you can see...
IMG_1776
I settled on this..WCP with a wash of Pink Pirouette and Kiwi Kiss. I stamped the words first and then did the wash so I didn't have to wait for anything to dry.
IMG_1775
Thanks for dropping by! I am going to be posting most days for the next little while as I have days off and plan to do most of the SCS challenges to keep me creative.

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: Organic Outlines
Inks: Stazon Black; Kiwi Kiss; Riding Hood Red; Pink Pirouette; Bashful Blue
Paper: Water Colour Paper; Kiwi Kiss; Pink Pirouette
Tools: HPH Cream; Paint Brush

Fun Girls Night Out with Copics....

We must be getting old when Copics excite us more than a night on the town..LOL.
But we did have fun!

Six of us met at my house and headed out for the 45 minute drive to Pitt Meadows.
We wanted to stop at Haroldine's store Be Creative first and then head on to the class she was hosting at the Golf course nearby. There were three classes throughout the day and I think they were all booked up! Then back to the store to shop...of course!!!

Now if you live in Vancouver or anywhere actually (as she ships) and need Copics..Haroldine is your lady. She carries ALL of them (Sketch; Ciao and yes even some of the really wide ones)and ALL the reinkers. This is how Haroldine always stocks her store..if she carries a line..then she REALLY carries it!! LOL I will say the Copic holder was looking a bit emptier when we had all finished but I understand there is a LARGE order on the way, so she will be all stocked up again very soon. E-mail her at: becreative@pacificcoast.net with any questions...oh and when you are e-mailing/chatting to her...ask her (or give her grief about)  when her website is going to be ready LOL..tell her I asked you to ask her.
IMG_1755
Here are some pics of the evening.. This pic is (L-R) Kyle, Haroldine's son, Haroldine and Marianne Walker, Product Specialist from Copic who gave the class.
IMG_1751
This is L-R Sue  (one of my newest recruits), Hayley from my Scrapbooking Meetup Group; Diane  who has a mobile scrapbooking store; and Kathy who is one of my Hostess Club  girls.
IMG_1752
My friend and fellow SU demo Alison (R) and her daughter Carly (L)...very talented artist who put us to shame with her technique.
IMG_1760 Caroline on the left and Colleen busy colouring on the right.
IMG_1753
Another one of Carly and Alison and on the right is Sheila, another new Stampin' UP! recruit. The funny thing...both Sue and Sheila joined my team within a week of each other and both are also jewellery makers...talented ladies! Sheila is apparently also an amazing Opera singer ... can't wait to hear her sing one day :-)
IMG_1764 Practice sheet for blending...so many ways and so much to learn! LOL
IMG_1773
Yes  I did add to my wee stash....
and when I came home I had to make something quickly...
IMG_1768 This stamp was sent to me by Anna Wight so finally I have a  Sweet Ms Puppy to send back to her. I think she likes dotty critters LOL.
Here is a close up...
IMG_1769 and one more...just cause the image is so darn cute! LOL I think the ribbon and HPG look like a collar don't you?
IMG_1770 I think Sweet Ms Puppy needs to get her spots checked as some of them are a bit irregular!!!
But the smaller ones turned out quite well using the copics I think!

OK..better take a nap..off to Australia again this evening so no posts until later in the week!

Wow...this post was really off the SU track but it was so much fun!
TFL..and thank you to all my friends who came out to the class and dinner afterwards...FUN!

Back to reality...and going Dotty apparently LOL

So our "Date Night" was wonderful...the hotel was amazing, dinner wonderful, wine delicious..what can I say. If you want to spoil yourself check out the Opus hotel in Vancouver next time you visit...I am sure the rooms are a fortune but it was such a nice treat as we didn't have to pay..YEAH for free stuff!

So this evening I got to play a little and went to SCS to check out what the daily challenge was. It was the inspirational challenge..and the site for seeking inspiration was Boden Clothing so I checked out the "girls" section and came upon THIS page and took the jacket at the top left as my inspiration.
IMG_1747
The hardest part was lining up the 3/4" dots. LOL

Here is a close up of the flowers..I love these flowers.

Fun day turned out different than planned but it's all good in the end.

Today I was heading over to my friend Alison's to have a stampin' play date. We had it planned for a couple of weeks. Isn't it funny how you have to schedule time for fun stuff too in this hectic time we live in?
But first this morning my future daughter-in-law Kiara came over to get some help making Thank You cards for two companies she has applied to for an internship. She wanted to use the websites as inspiration and we came up with two of them that I think will work. One I am not keen on as the colours are not my "thing" but I love how the other one turned out.
This is the first one...the home page of the company is yellow and black and they use daisy outlines through out the site.
IMG_1744
It is 5x5 and I REALLY wish I had put a ribbon around the Thank You part..or use my piercing tool maybe. I'll see if Kiara has sent them and if not ask if I can edit it a bit more. It was a nice way to start the day with this wonderful young lady...we are so lucky to have her in our lives. Watch the fashion scene...she will be a designer in the near future and I think she will do amazingly well in her field. For my birthday she made me a beautiful top :-)

So then I packed up my toys and was heading out the door when my SIL called in tears..she was heading to emergency and was worried and asked if I could pick up her three children from the different places they happened to be today. So I canceled the play day..picked up the kids dropped them home and later this evening took her hubby to the hospital to pick her up and drive her home as she was quite medicated for pain and they wouldn't let her drive. I think she is sleeping well tonight.

Then...I got to plan another play date...I am taking a Copic Marker Technique class at my friend Haroldine's on Sunday. She is hosting 3 classes by Marianne Walker and a bunch of us are going out to take the class. I am SO excited. This lady is THE Copic expert. Check out her blog: HERE
She is the Product Expert for Copic and is a graphic artist also.
Haroldine recently started selling Copics and has converted so many of her customers. She and her husband Bob are both certified  (Bob was(is??) the first guy to be certified)
I own a few Copics but don't know how to use them so will enjoy the class...hey..there is a bunch of us going so it's a girl day too and I get to see my good friends Haroldine & Bob too :-).
It's all good when it ends well right?
Oh Alison and her daughter are coming too, and Kathy, and Sheila, and Hayley and Diane and me..and hoping Colleen can make it too. Fun Fun Fun.a play date :-)
Tomorrow I will share the other card we made this morning...so much nicer than this one...warm pretty colours, same layout but totally different look.
OH...I just got a great idea on how to make the first card nicer...hmmm...have to go play...
Check back tomorrow for the next installment!
